DOMESTIC CONTAINER TERMINAL (DCT) NEW DELHI


1. OVERVIEW

CONCOR’s Domestic Container Terminal located at Okhla, Phase-II, New Delhi is the biggest Domestic Container Terminal in India. The terminal handles more than 1 lakh TEUs (Twenty Feet Equivalent Units) per annum. It has state of the art handling facilities and is served by the biggest railway yard in Northern India (Tughlakabad Yard).

The terminal is manned by a highly competent team of officers/ staff and functions 7 days a week 24 hours a day with cargo handling activities being carried out from 8 AM to 10 PM.

The facilities at the terminal include approx. 16, 000 sq. ft. of warehousing. Door collection and delivery facilities are available for locations upto 400 Km. from Delhi at highly competitive rates. A brand new warehouse of 30, 000 sq. ft. is also available in the vicinity of the terminal.

Location of the terminal has been mapped in Annexure 1.

The terminal presently handles a wide range of products such as food products, electrical equipments, auto parts, furniture, food grains, white cement, bulk oils, edible oils, rubber, pipes, chemicals, polymers, wood, tiles, household effects etc.

Container track & trace facility available through SMS. Also train tracking facility is available through FNR number.


2. TRAIN SERVICES AND FREQUENCY

Routine train services for the following destinations are available at competitive rates from Okhla broadly as per the frequency mentioned alongside. No. of containers transported by each train broadly vary from 80 to 90 TEUs.

Tondiarpet, Chennai (TNPM) Four times a week.
Whitefield, Bangalore (WFD) Twice a week
Sanathnagar, Hyderabad (SNF) Twice a week
Majerhat, Kolkata (CTKR) Twice a week

In addition to the above, train services are also being run to Gandhidham and Turbhe(Mumbai) on basis of arising need.

The terminal is also a main hub where transit containers loaded from Kharia, Gotan, Jaipur, Phillaur, Moga, Dhappar among others, are received and despatched to the final destinations.

4. COMMERCIAL PROCESSES

The following activities are involved in the dispatch and receipt of containers from the terminal

OUTWARD BOOKING

  • Registration Process of giving indent for regular stream of specific container in specific quantity alongwith advance of Rs. 1200/- per container, which is adjusted in the freight
  • Allotment of containers is being done, based on the indent placed and availability of containers. Allotment is done based on the allotment policy (available at the terminal), with priority to business associates and customers having inward traffic.
  • Stuffing / Sealing Process of giving /issuing “One Time Lock“ in containers, once stuffing is complete(both at terminal/factory)
  • IWB generation Process of issuing Inland Way Bill (IWB)-a form of transport receipt with complete details like-Consignor, Consignee, Container No., Commodity, Wagon No., Freight, Service Mode, Payment Mode etc.


INWARD ARRIVAL
  • Book delivery Process of handing over of original IWB with due charges at destination station. Even in the case of Door Delivery, the customer is required to submit/surrender the IWB at the destination station.
  • Seal cutting Process of physical cutting of OTL and taking the delivery of the cargo in case of containers meant for terminal de-stuffing
  • Empty declaration Process of declaration given by the party that they have physically emptied their container and any dues pending have been deposited.
  • Specific free time for stuffing/destuffing is provided for all containers to all customers (policy available at terminal)
